VDA Publish Revised List of AdBlue Licensees

Earlier this week the VDA published a newly revised list of AdBlue licensees, the list can be accessed from visiting the VDA website at the following address http://www.vda.de/en/publikationen/publikationen_downloads/detail.php?id=751

This will come as unsurprising news to many companies after the recent publication of the VDA’s most recent newsletter which confirmed industry demands to clamp down on unauthorised use of the AdBlue license.

ISO 22241-3 requires purchasing AdBlue (AUS 32) from licensed suppliers only. This has to be verified by documentation, sealed transport units and labelling of transport units and dispensing systems with an "AdBlue® label", showing the actual batch number of the original producer. This batch number should also be detailed on the delivery note ensuring full traceability.

As SCR systems are highly susceptible to contamination, many vehicle manufacturers are quick to point the finger at the AdBlue supply when SCR failure occurs. Using a licensed supplier helps ensures compliance to the ISO22241 standard and reduces the risk of costly SCR replacement not covered by warranty.

Using the name / trademark “AdBlue®” without direct license agreement with the VDA or without a sub-license agreement with a VDA-licensee constitutes a violation of the trade mark. This includes but is not limited to product name, brand name, company name and logos.

All products labelled as AdBlue® must conform to the ISO22241 standard and carry license from the VDA, Further information especially about licensing conditions can be obtained from the VDA-legal department (Dr. Ralf Scheibach, e-mail e-mail scheibach@vda.de, Tel. +49 30 897842-260).
