New Sensors Detect Non-conforming Product

As truck manufacturers around the world step-up to meet new emissions legislation, a range of customizable SCR sensors has been launched by UK manufacturer Gentech which are designed to measure the presence, level, temperature of AdBlue®/DEF and detect when an inauthentic fluid has been added.

Absence of AdBlue®/DEF will disrupt emissions measurement, making the vehicle non-compliant and it will become illegal to run a truck on an empty AdBlue®/DEF tank in Europe from 31st December 2013.

Furthermore, AdBlue®/DEF tanks are situated near the exhaust, keeping the fluid at an optimal temperature but it will freeze at -11oC, so temperature measurement is essential. Gentech’s SCR sensors can be customised with heater elements which can thaw the liquid as an added safety measure. In addition, filtering systems are available to ensure the SCR system does not become clogged with unwanted particles.

The SCR sensor range ensure heavy duty vehicles are compliant with EPA 2010 Euro 4, Euro 5, Tier 4a, Tier 4b, Euro VI and JP 09 standards. For more information visit http://www.gentechsensors.com/scr-sensors
